European premiere: OPER "MARCO POLO" in Milan and Genova

From September 22 to October 1, the European premiere of my opera "MARCO POLO", composed in Chinese and commissioned by the Chinese government, took place in Milano and Genova (Italy). After the three productions in China this European tour was now a successful test.
MARCO POLO – a monumental opera in Guangzhou & Beijing

Exciting News in may 2018: Sometimes silent as my election as official member of the „Bavarian Academy of Fine Arts“ or my nomination as „Honorary Artistic Advisor“ of Guangzhou Opera House. Sometimes with frenetic applause as the performances of my opera MARCO POLO (composed and sung in chinese language) in Guangzhou and Beijing. All over China it was a sensation in media and cultural life.

My opera MARCO POLO (composed 2017 in original chinese language and performed 2018 in Guangzhou and Beijing) performed again in Operahouse Guangzhou may 2024, - to celebrate "800 Years of Marco Polo"... Soloists, Chor, the Macao Symphonic Orchestra conducted by Junping Qian

ASIA - Seeking the origins of culture

Asia, a longing for the origins of cultures that has been increasingly buried in Western civilization, has been fascinating for over 20 years. Encounter with old traditional instruments, with a concept of "Modernism" that is not as Eurocentric as our "contemporary music" stamped by Darmstadt, Donaueschingen or Adorno.
2 CD-Projects in November 2020

Two CD-Projects in month of November 2020: "JUBILISSIMO" for brass & organ, recorded in June in Essen cathedral is now released nin November. And a new CD "Beethoven 250 Years" was recorded in Great concert Hall of University of Music in Munich....
Lots of concerts... and being Member of Jury

Not only "world premieres" are important for composers life, - but also the repeating of performances to bring the compositions into the common repertoire. And not to forget: working as Jury member in competitions is a very responsible work, leading young artists to their future!

Turbulent and wild..... but a creative summer 2017

During my intense work with Chinese language, culture and history while composing the MARCO POLO opera, some very personal insights also happened. For example, the Chinese proverb: "If the roots are deep, the wind is not to be feared". In fact, even impossible things can be accomplished if everything is deeply rooted in one's own will and nature.
