FLUTE STORIES - ABOUT WATER, TREES AND A CHINESE CONCUBINE
With the internationally outstanding interpreters Lukasz Dlugosz and - in the double concerto - Agata Kielar-Dlugosz, multi-faceted music for flute and orchestra is presented here. All of them have in common a narrative keynote that refers to natural themes such as water and trees, but also to the famous concubine Yang Guifei of ancient China. She is credited with the cultivation and courtly spread of flute playing. This Asian colouring of the last work also builds a bridge to the double concerto at the beginning of the CD, where "water" is explicitly presented as a symbol of Daoism and spiritual metaphor.
