The composition DEDICATION uses a poem "Unfinished Picture" by Alexei Pushkin (1799-1837) set to music in Russian language, which tells of the mystery of beauty (tajnu krasoty), of genius (ty, genij) and of extinction with a glowing soul (I gasnet plamennoj duschoj) - metaphors that directly remind us of this great man Dmitri Hvorostovksy. In addition, some motifs and quotations from the opera "Evgenij Onegin" by P. I. Tchaikovsky, Text: A. Puschkin) , whose title role belonged to the singer's parade roles, can be heard.

UNFINISHED PICTURE

MANY THANKS....to the Russian scientist Vladimir Tourovsky (Munich), who brought me closer to the Russian version of the Pushkin poem, explained it and gave me phonetic and interpretive help. The poem is - atypical for Pushkin - written in a very scholarly and almost mannered Russian, using many older Orthodox church-language applications.
