The arabic lute “Oud” and the organ as instrument of Christian churches….they unite here to a cross-religious prayer. The work was commissioned for a concert prgramme on the subject of “hell”. But the music does not address this metaphysical-theological site we usually call “hell”… where the lost souls are punished after the death. Rather, they are prayers of mourning for the victims of senseless wars. Such senseless wars became in the meantime part of everyday life. With the sound of the Arabic “Oud” (played at the world premiere by the Syrian refugee Abathar Kmash) it is obviously to remember the horrific war in Syria.

Publisher of notes/sheet music: Strube Verlag München , 2019
