Introduction: The saxophone embodies the 'soul of the German artist and comedian Karl Valentin and is hassled right at the beginning by the barbaric brass players with the famous Bavarian Defiliermarsch: after the military chaos and a 'mesto' as mourning the 'soul' awakes and becomes vital and rhythmic. The development leads to a distrassing culmination where the brass players musically corner and squeeze the saxophonist...'Karl Valentin Epitaph' - a gravestone quote for the unforgettable Karl Valentin.

Additional remarks: The pianist (or percussionist) plays 'special effents' such as whistles, bird voices, drums
