DR JEKYLL & MR HYDE - MELODRAM for Narrator, 2 Violoncelli and Strings
Das bereits vorliegende Doppelkonzert für zwei Violoncelli und Streichorchester von 2013 wurde für das Kammerorchester METAMORPHOSEN Berlin zum Melodram umgeformt und mit dem Sprecher Dietmar Wunder ("die deutsche Stimme des James Bond" alias Daniel Craig) im Februar 2024 im Konzerthaus Berlin und in der Elbphilharmonie Hamburg uraufgeführt. STRANGE CASE OF DR JEKYLL AND MR HYDE (1886) des schottischen Autors Robert Louis Stevenson (1850-1894) ist die wohl berühmteste literarische Formung des Doppelgänger-Motivs. Diese Novelle ist ihm selber in Alpträumen zugefallen und wurde dann sintflutartig schnell zu Papier gebracht. Eine komplexe Vision, welche die Freudianische Psychoanalyse genial vorausahnt. Dieses Melodram erwies sich als Glücksfall, denn bei dem Publikum knisterte es vor Spannung und Erschaudern, - es war echtes "Kino im Kopf". WORLD PREMIERES 2013
featuring SYMPHONY NO. 7 „DUNKELWELT UNTERBERG“ and SYMPHONY NO. 6 "THE RHINE" for soprano, choir and orchestra. The CD recording BALDE RUHEST DU AUCH! (Hans-Rott-Liederreise for baritone and orchestra) will be released in August. In October, there will be three world premieres: CONCERTO B-A-C-H in the Dresden Frauenkirche, the orchestral work R. Wagner-Reflexionen HÖCHSTES HEILES WUNDER in the cathedral of Brixen, and the concerto DR JEKYLL & MR. HYDE for two cellos and orchestra. -

Turbulent and wild..... but a creative summer 2017
During my intense work with Chinese language, culture and history while composing the MARCO POLO opera, some very personal insights also happened. For example, the Chinese proverb: "If the roots are deep, the wind is not to be feared". In fact, even impossible things can be accomplished if everything is deeply rooted in one's own will and nature. -
April, May, June....musical diversity
Is it actually possible to beat the turbulent combination of composing for concert halls / movies, producing CDs (6 new CDs in 2015 alone), writing essays, traveling, and working in cultural-political jobs at the German Composer Association (DKV), at the GEMA, at ProKlassik, and at the German Music Council? Yes ... it can be beat ... things are getting wilder ... even though I have just turned 65! -
2015 IS FINALIZED..... COMPOSING, RECORDINGS & CONCERTS NONSTOP
The final months of 2015 were also fully characterized by 'music', world premieres, new CD releases und endless pages of score compositions: the squirrel I see at my garden window each morning goes nuts for nuts, I go nuts for new compositions!
