Modern Music, - for HACKBRETT (hammered dulcimer) in concert, - an instrument not only known from folk music, but - unknown to many classical music listeners - also belonging to art music since Renaissance and Baroque. Music of silence, intimate, delicate and leading into unheard spaces. Birgit Stolzenburg plays with top-class chamber music partners: with clarinet, flauto dolce, soprano, in a dulcimer duo, with organ, with string quartet... this CD with such exquisite compositions and instrumentations is a unique piece of music history, - "dulcimer" in completely new contexts.

POWER OF PAST - FINDING THE FUTURE IN THE PAST
Now I am in my 70th year of life, which will be celebrated and concluded as a birthday in 2020. As if by itself, there is a reflection of the past. The future becomes more meaningless. My mother has died in March 2019 and I was allowed to accompany her until to her last breath. That also asked many questions about time and life.... The prehistory of life and the world has always occupied and inspired me, the longevity of the trees, some of which are thousands of years old, the documents of past epochs: fascinating, how long before the biblical Creation Report and its time counting there were already cultures and civilization. -

Turbulent and wild..... but a creative summer 2017
During my intense work with Chinese language, culture and history while composing the MARCO POLO opera, some very personal insights also happened. For example, the Chinese proverb: "If the roots are deep, the wind is not to be feared". In fact, even impossible things can be accomplished if everything is deeply rooted in one's own will and nature.
