Vorwort: The Rose is one of the most puzzling symbols of the religious and mythical worlds. In Christianity it symbolises 'Mary' as well as 'Innocence' or 'Transience', the flower of love, the wedding and also lust. With its thorns it was also the symbol of pain and suffering.

Die 'Rose ist eines der rätselhaften Symbole der religiösen und mythischen Welt. Im Christentum symbolisiert sie sowohl 'Maria' wie 'Unschuld' oder 'Vergänglichkeit', sie ist die Blume der Liebe, der Hochzeit und auch der Lust schlechthin.
